So I have decided to start a blog. Not so much for other people as to save my ramblings for later and more importantly, have a place to vent them. Maybe, as a side effect, my English will improve too.
You can expect posts about physics, computer science and programming here, but I'll add the occasional philosophical problem here too. Maybe I'll even talk about my life a little. Remember that the prime goal of this blog is not to attract thousands of subscribers, but to give me a place to formulate my thoughts coherently and maybe help other that have the same problems I have. If you disagree with me, I'm more than happy to have a polite conversation about it. I hope I can keep the flames to a minimum but I know the Internet well enough to know that this is unavoidable as soon as you start attracting any attention.
As I don't really have anything ready to talk about yet (something's coming up about entropy), I will just talk about my blog title here.
Dutch is my native language, and "Ik heet Kasper" is Dutch for "I'm called Kasper". It's pronounced /ik heːt kɑspər/. Since English doesn't have a transitive verb like "to be called", it's kind of an approximate translation. I find my name to be a lovely name and I'm proud of it. "Ik heet Kasper" is also the title of a wonderful book by Willy Van Doorselaer I enjoyed reading.
